Salado Ranch is a homestead property and a functioning ranch. Lionheart (previously Studio Balcones) designs include a restoration planting around the existing creek, a fruit tree orchard, a pond, a small farm stand, and a small amphitheater for neighborhood gatherings.
This 65-acre ranch in Central Texas offers a retreat-like setting for a large family that’s accustomed to hosting large gatherings and events. With 35 of the 65 acres programmed for food production, performance, and fun, integrating circulation, continuity, and viewing corridors were a top priority. Lionheart, previously Studio Balcones, worked closely with Cuppett Kilpatrick Architects through all phases – masterplan through construction administration – to ensure a seamless experience of comfort, function, and an immersion in nature. Amenities include: barn/gymnasium, amphitheater, pool, outdoor kitchen, in-ground trampoline, creek-side riparian forest, hydroponic food production barn, 2-acre pond, and guest parking. The plantings that unite this large and disparate property are predominately native and drought tolerant, and offer a variety of colors, textures, and blooms that change with the seasons.
