This multi-phase improvement project situated at the top of Aspen Mountain ski area holds a unique history. Home to skiing operations for nearly 60 years and with few existing programmatic functions to support summer activity, the design for this site focused on summer enhancements that would provide an engaging and enduring experience for the whole family. Programs implemented include a wedding venue, improved guest services area with lawn games and a botanic garden, a restaurant terrace with scenic overlooks, added trails, and parking areas. The complexity of site conditions, including extreme climate with freeze/thaw cycles and a short four-month construction season, posed challenges that Lionheart (previously Connect One Design) mitigated and successfully solved.
