Lionheart led a team to develop Envision Taylor, a new comprehensive plan with the goal of building a stronger Taylor for. Situated roughly 15 miles east of Round Rock and within the Central Texas region, the City of Taylor is anticipating significant growth. Envision Taylor is utilizing the guiding principles of resilience, equity, and fiscal sustainability to ensure a stronger Taylor for the future.
Public Engagement During COVID-19
Public engagement and participation plays an important role in this comprehensive planning effort and Lionheart has led the team towards new and innovative techniques to ensure broad public outreach during the Covid-19 pandemic. Lionheart has embraced new technology to ensure the public has a rich experience in the Comprehensive Plan process despite stay at home orders.
For example, Konveio is a website platform with a simple user interface that was developed to provide a rich user experience. Lionheart works closely with the City of Taylor staff to host virtual workshops and small group meetings across multiple platforms, including the City’s Facebook Live stream, in addition to the public access channels.
While more of the population is embracing the digital experience during this time, Lionheart understands that not all community members have equal access to a digital experience.
Lionheart is engaging with the school district and libraries to ensure that harder to reach populations are included in the effort.
Our Approach
To remain strong, Taylor requires communities, infrastructure, and systems that can thrive in the face of future economic, fiscal, and environmental uncertainties.
Resilient communities do not wait until challenges present themselves to react but instead work to build a strong foundation based in sustainable decision making. Using resilience as a guiding principle requires making infrastructure, natural systems, and social structures more durable so that they can withstand and recover from acute shocks and chronic stresses.
Lionheart understands that the type and location of development has a large impact on the cost of providing and maintaining high quality public services and infrastructure, such as streets, utilities, public safety services, and parks. Envision Taylor will ensure that growth and development in Taylor is fiscally sustainable.
