After a competitive RFP process, the Aspen Affordable Housing Partnership was selected to design and develop three affordable housing projects in Aspen, including the Main Street Affordable Housing Project. Lionheart (previously Connect One Design) led a public outreach campaign to receive input and ensure a community supported space. Containing the most generous outdoor space of all three affordable housing projects, the Main Street Affordable Housing site has the capability to include substantial outdoor living space. A small fire pit, a community garden, and extensive bike parking has been planned to complement and enhance the proposed building. This project is located on a prominent corner at the entrance to Aspen, and thus the streetscape must also be carefully considered.
