The intersection of hill country ecology and urbanity

Lionheart led the landscape architecture for La Verde Park, a 1.67-acre urban oasis within the 138-acre Brick and Mortar District, part of the 2,200-acre Plum Creek community. Positioned at the heart of this mixed-use district, La Verde Park serves as a gathering spot surrounded by office spaces, retail, and 2,500 residential units. The park is a key component of the city’s vision for an urban and walkable area, developed with the support of a Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ). Lionheart facilitated public engagement workshops, ensuring the park design aligned with community needs. The result is a space that hosts events, markets, and performances while incorporating sustainable features such as rain gardens and native plantings. The design includes an all-abilities playground, reflecting Kyle’s commitment to inclusivity.

Connecting La Verde Park to Heroes Memorial Park is the ongoing Cultural Trail project, a 1,200-foot multi-use urban trail featuring art installations, custom lighting, restaurants, water features, and pedestrian amenities. This trail integrates seamlessly into the park, enhancing access and creating a dynamic, connected public space for the community.
